It’s competition time again! – “The outside is the only place we can truly be inside the world”

You may remember our last competition to win a beautiful story telling chair, stools and waterwall. It was a big success, and the lucky winners, Ysgol Derwenfa Primary School received their prize at the beginning of September. We have decided to launch a second competition and to go even bigger with the prize!

This time Ace Play is giving away a beautiful outdoor shelter with seating, worth £5,000, to one lucky school, nursery or community project.

The competition will close on Friday 15 December 2023, so be quick! The more entries we receive on your behalf, the more chance your organisation has of winning, so spread the word. The shelter will be delivered in January 2024.

Ace Play’s timber outdoor shelter, called the Octavia Shelter (4x4 m) includes a roof, seating and sides. It creates a usable outdoor space and allows children to learn or sit outside in all weathers.

The benefits of sheltered outdoor seating

Aside from the obvious reasons of sheltered outdoor seating protecting you from the elements, there are many benefits to outdoor learning. Schools, nurseries and community projects often lack covered space. Studies have shown that children tend to have increased concentration and motivation whilst learning outside. Children’s health and well being is always a concern, and it is believed that a child learning outside in natural environment will have more fun and learn better. Learning outside reduces stress, encourages fun and happiness, increases coordination and improves motor skills, while the exposure to sunlight helps to regulate sleep.
